Recent thunderstorms in the wheatbelt meant that some of the many salt lakes that dot the landscape have water in them. This was what I was hoping for as I made a mad dash out to Lake Brown recently.
After waiting a few years for the perfect conditions to eventuate, I was very happy to discover that my hunch was right. The temperature was around the 41C mark and the flies were present in their usual numbers, but it was worth the effort.
